As part of my blog, I want to share real-life stories that have had an impact on my life as a speech-language pathologist and real-life person. When I first decided to start I was nervous and unsure. There were already a ton of speech-language bloggers When I decided to begin the journey of being a Speech Pathologist blogger, I agonized over what I could contribute that isn’t already out there. I was overwhelmed with setting up a website. I still can’t even do an excel spreadsheet. Then the task of what to say. There are so many bloggers out that have it “all going on.” They are young, organized, have full caseloads, create numerous products, facebook, snapchat, tweet….I am getting exhausted just thinking about it. And, here I am, a veteran of 25 years who works as a part-time independent contractor who can barely find time to read my emails. Then it hit me, that’s IT. I don’t have it “all going on,” but I have been chugging along for over 25 years. In those 25 years, I have seen and done a lot. I have worked self-contained, pull-out, push-in, preschool, elementary, high-school, and every disorder you can think of. I have been hit, bit, yelled at, cursed at (I don’t just mean the kids), and still enjoy going to work most days. The thing I love most about my job isn’t the job itself; it’s the outside of the classroom experiences I have lived through, learned from, cried over and made me laugh that I find to be the most rewarding. I hope to share those experiences that have made me “wise” in hopes that it will you too
